About us
Ichamati Behala Cultural Society is a registered organisation, Regn. No. S0000851 of 2018–2019 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. Ichamati is a musical troupe, and its first formal presentation, “Ichamatir Ichhe”, took place at Sarat Sadan, Behala on 17 June 2018. Your presence that day encouraged us, and we have kept walking that path since.
ইছামতি বেহালা কালচারাল সোসাইটি একটি registered organisation, Regn. No. S0000851 of 2018–2019, West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 অনুযায়ী। ১৭ই জুন ২০১৮ সালে বেহালার শরৎ সদনে “ইছামতির ইচ্ছে” দিয়ে আমাদের পথ চলা শুরু হয়েছিল। সেইদিন ঐ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থেকে আপনারা আমাদের উৎসাহ দিয়েছিলেন, আমাদের অনুপ্রাণিত করেছিলেন। সেই পথ চলা আমাদের চলছে। আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ।
Ichamati tries to step out of the “Achalayatan”, the immovable house of convention, and do something new while staying in harmony with our musical heritage. Through composition and fusion we bring regional folk songs from many languages together with other popular music.
ইছামতি গতানুগতিক ধারার “অচলায়তন” থেকে বেরিয়ে এসে নতুন কিছু করার চেষ্টা করছে এবং এই চেষ্টা নতুন আঙ্গিকের মাধ্যমে আমাদের ঐতিহ্যবাহী সঙ্গীত-সংস্কৃতির সঙ্গেই সাযুজ্য রেখে চলছে।
The pandemic stopped us, as it stopped everyone. Afterwards we felt a social responsibility to grow the group, and several senior people joined, finding in folk music a new joy in life and discovering the singer within. Today young and senior artists sing side by side, and the troupe numbers about twenty.
মাঝে বিশ্বব্যাপী মহামারীতে আমরা সবাইয়ের মত থমকে গিয়েছিলাম কিন্তু কোভিড পরবর্তী কালে আমরা আমাদের গ্রুপে কুশীলবের সংখ্যা বাড়ানোর জন্য সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা অনুভব করলাম। কিছু প্রবীণ মানুষ আমাদের গ্রুপের লোকসঙ্গীতে অংশ গ্রহণের মাধ্যমে জীবনের বাঁচার রসদ পেল, তাদের মধ্যে সঙ্গীতশিল্পী সত্তাকে খুঁজে পেল। নবীন গুণী শিল্পীদের সাথে তারা প্রায় সমান তালে চলতে শুরু করল। আজকে আমাদের গ্রুপে শুধু কুশীলবের সংখ্যা ২০ জন।
Our members don't all come from the music profession, but they are hopeful because you are with them. Your criticism, your warm invitations and your support carry Ichamati forward.
ইছামতির সদস্যরা সঙ্গীত-পেশার বিভিন্ন মাধ্যম সম্বন্ধে অবহিত নয়, কিন্তু তারা আশাবাদী কারণ আপনি আছেন এবং আপনারা আছেন। আপনাদের সমালোচনা, আন্তরিক আমন্ত্রণ ও সহযোগিতা ইছামতিকে আগামী দিনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে।

Ichamati wishes to become a river of wishes, to flow as it pleases through the shade of melody, to a strange land where every tune is free. Flow on, free Ichamati, and sing the victory of free music along the way.
